Symposium on Riordan Arrays and Related Topics (RART)
The International Symposium on Riordan Arrays and Related Topics is the primary annual international conference on Riordan arrays. The 9th occurrence of thisconference will take place on June 3 – June 5, 2024, at Howard University in Washington, DC
9RART Conference:
The 9th International Symposium on Riordan Arrays and Related Topics (9RART) is scheduled to occur at Howard University inWashington, D.C. from June 3rd to June 5th. Notably, there is a significant historical tie to this event, as the original paper on the Riordan group was authored by four mathematicians from Howard University in 1991. Since then, eight international conferences have taken place, but this will be the first to be held at Howard University. The primary objective of the symposium is to foster collaboration and networking among researchers interested in Riordan arrays and associated subjects. It seeks to catalyze fresh research directions, offer platforms for emerging scholars to showcase their work, and serve as an international nexus for academic exchange and cooperation. Additionally, it aims to broaden the community of mathematicians engaged in Riordan array research.
The symposium will feature two distinguished international scholars specializing in enumerative combinatorics, who will deliver hour-long colloquium-style lectures on their respective fields of expertise. These lectures are anticipated to provide comprehensive overviews of current research trends and suggest potential avenues for future exploration. Furthermore, the event will host three invited speakers recognized for their contributions to Riordan arrays. Additionally, there will be several 30-minute presentations and a poster session showcasing student research.
For this symposium, particular areas of interest include (but are not limited to) 3-dimensional arrays, the double Riordan group, almost Riordan arrays, and different denominator sequences. Another active area is new applications, among them orthogonal polynomial theory, Riordan graphs, Riordan posets, and probability. New trends in research might well include links with Lie theory, operads, and operating with a wider range polynomial rings as coefficients.
Keynote Speakers
- Professor Paul Barry, Waterford Institute of Technology in Waterford
- Professor Alan Sokal, University College London, England

- Lou Shapiro, Howard University
- Gi-Sang Cheon, Sungkyunkwan University
